Short Title
This Order may be cited as the Fishing Zones of Canada (Zones 4 and 5) Order.
Interpretation
In this Order,
C.H.S. Chart means Canadian Hydrographic Service Chart; (carte S.H.C.)
Fishing Zone 1, Fishing Zone 2 and Fishing Zone 3 means the areas of the sea prescribed as fishing zones in the Fishing Zones of Canada (Zones 1, 2 and 3) Order and described respectively as “Zone 1”, “Zone 2” and “Zone 3” in the schedule thereto; (zone de pêche 1, zone de pêche 2 et zone de pêche 3)
geographical coordinates means the latitudes and longitudes listed in Schedules I to IV. (coordonnées géographiques)
NAD83 means the North American Datum 1983 geodetic system. (NAD83)
Prescription of Fishing Zones
Fishing Zone 4 comprises an area of the sea adjacent to the Atlantic coast of Canada bounded on its outer perimeter
by geodesic lines joining the points determined by reference to the geographical coordinates listed in Schedule I,
by arcs of circles circumscribed about points determined by reference to the geographical coordinates listed in Schedule II, so that each such arc has a radius of two hundred nautical miles and terminates at the points where it intersects with an immediately adjoining arc or with a geodesic line described in paragraph (a) or, in the case of Area 2 in Schedule I, with the arc defining the outer limit of the 200 nautical mile fishery conservation zone established by the United States of America pursuant to the Fishery Conservation and Management Act of the United States of America dated March 1, 1977,
and, in the case of Area 2 in Schedule I, by the arc defining the outer limit of the 200 nautical mile fishery conservation zone established by the United States of America pursuant to the Fishery Conservation and Management Act of the United States of America dated March 1, 1977 from its point of intersection referred to in paragraph (b) to its point of intersection with a geodesic line described in paragraph (a),
but does not include Fishing Zones 1 and 2 and other areas within the internal waters and territorial sea of Canada, or the waters of the islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon, delimited by the territorial sea of Canada between the point of Latitude 47°21′54″N, Longitude 56°29′40″W (North American Datum 1927, hereinafter referred to as “NAD27”) and the point of Latitude 46°38′46″N, Longitude 55°54′12″W (NAD27), and by the boundary defined in Schedule V.
Fishing Zone 5 comprises an area of the sea adjacent to the Pacific coast of Canada bounded on its outer perimeter
by geodesic lines joining the points determined by reference to the geographical coordinates listed in Schedule III, and
by arcs of circles circumscribed about points determined by reference to the geographical coordinates listed in Schedule IV, so that each such arc has a radius of 200 nautical miles and terminates at the points where it intersects with an immediately adjoining arc or with a geodesic line described in paragraph (a),
but does not include Fishing Zone 3 and other areas within the internal waters and territorial sea of Canada.

Unless otherwise specified, all coordinates are expressed in the North American Datum 1983 (NAD83) geodetic system.
The boundary between the waters of Fishing Zone 4 and the waters of the islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon shall be delimited by the line described below*.
The line shall be defined by geodesic lines that, beginning at sea at the point of Latitude 47°21′54″ N, Longitude 56°29′40″W (NAD27), connect the points that have the following coordinates*: Column I Column II Point Latitude Longitude A 47°14′28.3″N 56°37′52.0″W B 47°12′59.0″N 56°39′45.1″W C 47°07′46.6″N 56°52′06.3″W D 46°58′58.6″N 57°05′48.4″W
